Remember when the new year started and we were all musing on resolutions? Yep, I wrote this and had all these great resolutions to be on top of things. Here we are, weeks later and I am FINALLY publishing this. But you know, it is important to recognize we are human, stuff happens and you just keep going. So, for your reading pleasure (and hopefully encouragement that you can keep going even if you fall of the wagon) my very delayed new year thoughts.

Resolution time, right? I had a friend recently tell me that they don't do resolutions for New Year's as you can resolve to do anything you want all year long. I loved that perspective. I get caught up in thinking this is the time I will <insert whatever goal or plan I have to do something better or different>. I like that it takes the pressure off. One of my focus words for the year is simplicity. I over-complicate so much and I dream to be free of what weighs me down and all the things I put on myself when I can be simple instead. So, I plan to adopt a mindset all year long that I can make any change I want, set any goal anytime throughout the year and go after them. You can too. Wishing you a lovely new year and encourage you to live everyday knowing that it is a new one and you can change and grow if you make a plan and follow through.

I have also been incredibly inspired by the revival of the twenties. Okay, it's really a revival in my mind to celebrate an era of gin, jazz, speakeasies and glamour. The twenties were also a time of new beginnings. There was a mindset of embracing change, living life and celebrating. It was also a time of embracing modern technological advancements, social revolution with women gaining the right to vote and attending college alongside men.

As I begin this year and have goals set, I feel peaceful and focused to embrace this next year and decade. I may not hit every goal, I may adjust focus and goals throughout the year, but this is the first time where I feel genuinely inspired to work toward what I lay out on paper. I am grateful to reflect this next decade inspired by an era that has since long past taking the spirit and live and apply it to the present.
